On the evening that marks the 28th anniversary of the Gainesville Student Murders, Third House Books & Coffee, in partnership with White Rhino Press will present a conversation and book signing with Susan Lehmann, author of Echoes from the Mind: The Psychic and the Gainesville Student Murders, and Visions of Ted Bundy: The Psychic and the Chi Omega Murders.
Ms. Lehmann will discuss her personal experiences with the serial homicides that profoundly impacted two communities, Gainesville and Tallahassee. Topics include the use of psychics to solve two prominent serial crimes: The Chi Omega Murders and the Gainesville Student Murders. She will be joined by two women who worked to catch Gainesville killer Danny Rolling: a task force FDLE Special Agent and the psychic who assisted her.
The author was a student and fledgling journalist at Florida State University when notorious serial killer Ted Bundy committed the 1978 Chi Omega Murders. Ms. Lehmann learned of the connection between a high-ranking investigator and a psychic who had visions about the killer. In 1990, while raising her children in Gainesville, five students were brutally killed in their southwest apartments. Eager to help, she contacted several law enforcement sources and began to work with local psychics to learn if any had credible information about the elusive killer. A chance encounter led her to the psychic who knew details about the murders that few possessed.
The northern Utah-based writer brings to her stories the expertise she has gleaned from decades of work as a writer, private investigator and death penalty mitigation expert. Her simultaneous professions inform her non-fiction writing, samples of which have earned her a 1996 Eaton Literary Award and a 2016 Utah Original Writing Competition Honorable Mention in Non-Fiction. She is currently working on a collection of stories from her career, Southern Lies and Homicides.
