Ekphrasis: Writing in Response to Art
Anyone planning on attending is encouraged to bring an image of their favorite art piece. (Preferably printed, but on some kind of screen will do. If you forget, we'll have plenty of images on hand.) We'll read a few famous samples from this genre, discuss how the most successful ekphrastic poems approach their subject, and then begin building poems in response to the images we've brought. Participants are encouraged (though not obligated) to share their writing.
Seating is limited so reserve your spot ASAP. This workshop is free and open to the public!
